PMTINEWS.com, Denpasar I Norwegian Seafarers Union (NSU), held a Cruise Seminar at the Hyatt Regency Bali Hotel, from 21-25 August 2023. 60 Indonesian seafarers from various areas were selected to participate in the seminar.

A number of speakers as well as presenters attended this seminar. Like Francesco Di Fiore from the ITF and FIT-CISL and I Dewa Nyoman Budiasa, Secretary General of the Central Management of KPI (Kesatuan Pelaut Indonesia/Indonesian Seafarers' Union) who is also the Managing Director of the Padma Bahtera Clinic.

Mrs Torill Kristiansen and Mrs Jessica, both from NSU, also made appearances. The event was hosted by Iriani Irenne Thamrin, NSU Representative Coordinator in Indonesia. Likewise, Ketut Muliana, Representative of the Benoa Class II Port Authority and Port Authority Office (KSOP) for the Sanur Working Area, and Deputy Chairperson II of the KPI Central Management Jerry J. Paat were present.

The material discussed included the existence of female seafarers and their protection. It is also a matter of bullying, harassment and discrimination, as well as the rights and obligations of sailors from various nations, such as those on cruise ships.

The participants who attended this seminar came from various backgrounds. There are Deck, Engine and Hotel Department. A female participant had the opportunity to inquire about seafarers' insurance claims if they experience an accident or work accident on a ship. The NSU and other organizations such as the ITF and FIT-CISL and others continue to provide space for seafarers who wish to be assisted.
